Benfield Electric has been family owned and operated since 1968. Charles Benfield started the company with just a single truck working out of his garage and a philosophy of “doing good work for a fair price.” With this philosophy and his strong work ethic, Mr. Benfield soon grew the company to a small residential and service contractor with 10 trucks. In 1976, Benfield Electric hired Barry Bernick and started its commercial division. Soon the company grew into one of the top 400 electrical contractors in the nation.
For the past forty plus years, the Benfield Electric Company has provided good work for a fair price to over 70,000 homeowners. We have also grown to service additional regions such as Northern Virginia, Pennsylvania and Delaware. In addition to commercial, service, and residential, Benfield also has an underground division and a team of engineers to perform design build projects. We are the only electrical contractor in Maryland to have wired 2,000 homes, a hospital, and numerous traffic signals in a single year.
In 2001, Greg Benfield became the third president of Benfield Electric. During this time Benfield Electric has continued to grow and in 2006, we moved to our current location in Aberdeen to accommodate our expansion. We look forward to serving the needs of Maryland and the surrounding areas for years to come.
